Insurance coverage of Invisalign depends on the individual policy. If you have a dental insurance policy, you’ll need to check with them to know for sure.
Take a look at both your employer-sponsored insurance and your spouse’s. Plans can be substantially different, even if they’re under the same company. Look at the coverage for orthodontic treatment to determine which plan will cover the most.
There are a few things you’ll want to consider when reviewing the coverage. First, of course, you will need to know whether there are any treatments that are not covered by the plan. Next, be sure that you check to be sure that the coverage applies to adults as well as children. Some policies won’t cover adult orthodontic work. It’s also important to look for a yearly or lifetime maximum and whether those restrictions will work with the condensed treatment time of Invisalign.
Generally though, if you have orthodontic coverage, you probably have some Invisalign coverage, at least to the same extent as traditional wire braces.
